Former Physician Faces Sexual Assault Allegations Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of performing sexual assaults involving 38 individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official commented, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to assist a thorough and intricate police inquiry, meticulously examining the available evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
The Investigation
The charges come after what police called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
Prosecutors outline the forty-five charges he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- 17 counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
