The New Animated Series' Opening Sequence Chose the Wrong Popular RPG Show Track
The Mighty Nein, the newest animated series by the beloved role-playing group, unveiled a new opening credits. It features our favorite group of outcasts, misfits, and rogues fighting hard and making their mark, while also hinting at multiple heart-wrenching personal histories for characters including the voice actor's mage Caleb, and another actor's orc warlock, Fjord.
All in all, the opening appears amazing. However, I felt that an element was lost in the music selection.
The intro uses "Welcome to the Continent", an exceptional composition composed by artist Colm McGuinness. This piece originating from the official score of that title, the second one released by the production company's music division Scanlan Shorthalt Music. It's a wonderful sentimental choice, and I suspect that devotees of the sequel series will appreciate its presence.
Personally, The series' intro fails to capture the excitement and excitement that was part of the show's actual-play adventure. "Your Turn to Roll", written by singer-songwriter Jason Charles Miller, became an immediate hit in my view when it was initially unveiled in that year, and it improved further when co-founder the performer wrote words to the tune for the series' animated intro in the later year.
Featuring vocals from Ashley Johnson, Laura Bailey, a co-star, as well as Riegel himself, the song was catchy and enjoyable. Back then, I hadn't seen the second campaign yet, but it was so infectious that I still saved it on my device. It's a song that excites you before you dive into an episode of fantasy hijinks.
The show's opening with "Welcome to Wildemount" doesn't strike the same chords for me. It's an impressive composition, but based on my understanding of this party, I can't help but feel that its tone is a little off.
Naturally, Critical Role has stated that the series will have some changes and variations from the actual-play campaign. A tonal change for its intro appears as among these.
The Mighty Nein will be released on the streaming service from Nov. 19. If you can't wait until then, or wish to prepare to learn about the personas of Critical Role's Campaign 2, the original episodes are available on Spotify and YouTube.
