Toy Story 5 Trailer Sets The Beloved Duo Versus a Digital Device
Exactly 30 years after the first Toy Story movie was released, launching Pixar as a leading animation studio and bringing audiences to iconic characters like Woody (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
Coming in 2026, the fifth installment is scheduled for release. The first teaser trailer for Toy Story 5 landed recently, providing a brief look into the storyline but keeping viewers curious how it will resolve the ending of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Gang
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he left for college — getting a brand new toy, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her first tablet computer, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. Still, the characters appear to consider it as a danger coming to replace them, which it probably is.
Woody's Return: Unanswered Questions from Toy Story 4
An element the teaser doesn't touch on is what the sheriff is returned with his companions in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (Annie Potts), traveling with a carnival and assisting prize toys locate loving owners.
Surely, the filmmakers will explain the consequences of Toy Story 4 in the film. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have come back with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?
Connections from the Previous Film
At the very least, some aspects are carrying over from the earlier movie. The final act the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was hand over his symbol of authority to Jessie (Joan Cusack), entrusting her in charge of Bonnie's bedroom. The clip displays the badge attached to her outfit.
It is hoped she is still the key figure among the toys.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on the scheduled date.
